Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER) was coined in 1960 for providing an excellent education in the field of medical through various undergraduate and Post graduate programmes. The aim of the college is to prepare specialist for various medical domains by implementing latest medical apparatus for assisting learner in their programme and research. The college takes accountability of propagating the knowledge of medical science by intensive research in the field of health. PGIMER Achievements: Achievements of PGIMER in year 2013 FOUNDATION STONE OF 250 BEDDED HOSPITAL LAID The new 250 bedded (expansion of Nehru hospital), which is five storey building with basement, will cater to the needs of the ailing humanity covering not only the northern states but all other states of the country. The new building has 250 beds which will cater to the patients coming to the Departments of Oncology, Hepatology, Endocrinology and ENT. Achievements of PGIMER in year 2012 PGIMER is completing 50 years of its existence and is celebrating its Golden Jubilee Year. In this journey of 50 years PGI has made significant contribution in the field of medical education, research and quality patient care. The institute has not only achieved leadership in many areas but also has established itself as the best service provider, an achievement recently highlighted in a national weekly where we are placed second.

PGIMER is situated in the Chandigarh city and a union territory in northern part of India The campus of the college is beautifully constructed by the greenery atmosphere which creates a picturesque atmosphere for the learners. The premises of the college are well architect, which comprises spacious lecture halls, well equipped labs, and Hostel facilities for the learners. The aim of the infrastructure amenities is to provide a finest learning atmosphere for the learners.

Classroom

Institute has trendy and air conditioned classrooms, which are well equipped with modern facilities, such as audio systems, Overhead Projects. The seating are designed to provide students with complete comfort for the intense hours of classrooms teaching and interaction.

Laboratory

All the laboratories of the Institute are well equipped with modern facilities. The laboratory of the college assists learners and researcher in their programmes. The labs of the college is kit out apparatus like Petri dish, A glass flask, Disposable gloves, Microscope, Burette, Dispensable pipettes and Gas chromatograph.

Institute library has a vast collection of latest books pertaining to medical field, journals, and periodicals. College has a separate reading room for learners and faculty where they can work on their programmes. The library of the college is air conditioned and kit out with all necessary amenities.
