UGC NET 2022 eligibility criteria have been made public on the official website of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC). The National Eligibility Test (NET) is slated to be held on November 5, 2022 to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for Assistant Professor (AP) or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor in both Indian universities and colleges across the country. The exam will be conducted in 84 subjects at 91 selected NET examination cities across India. The aspirants must go through the eligibility criteria before filling up the application form for UGC NET 2022.

Eligibility Criteria for UGC NET 2022:
- The candidate must have secured at least 55% aggregate marks in Master’s degree or equivalent examination from UGC recognised university/institution in their relative subject. The candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC), Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), persons with disability (PwD) must have secured at least 50% aggregate marks in their Master’s degree or equivalent examination.
- The candidates awaiting their Master’s degree results or will be appearing at the qualifying Master’s degree or whose results for qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for the test. The admission for such candidates will be provisional and these candidates will be considered eligible for the award of Junior Research Fellowship/eligibility for Assistant professor only after they pass their Master’s degree or equivalent examination with the required minimum percentage as per their category. Such candidates will be required to complete their PG degree within two years of tenure from the date of NET result. If the candidate fails to do so, he/she will be disqualified.
- The candidates with Ph. D degree, those who have completed their Master’s before September 19, 1991 (regardless of the declaration of their results) are also eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks to appear for NET.
- The age of the candidate appearing for NET should not be more than 28 years as on July 1, 2022. A relaxation up to 5 years is allowed to candidates who belong to OBC, SC, ST or PwD category and to women applicants.
