About Mangalore University

Mangalore University campus is located about 20 km to the southeast of the historic coastal town of Mangalore. It is a public university situated in the Indian state of Karnataka. The University offers higher education in the field of arts, commerce, science, law and management. Mangalore University was established in 1980. The campus started with three postgraduate departments but now has twenty-five postgraduate departments with modern infrastructure and experienced faculty.

It grew out of a modest post-graduate centre of the University of Mysore to become the focal point of an independent University in 1980. The campus, which once housed a mere three postgraduate departments, now has twenty-five postgraduate departments, supported by modern infrastructure and experienced faculty.

The Mangalore University has grown with 190 affiliated colleges including two constituent colleges one at Mangalore and another at Madikeri which is taken over by the University from Government of Karnataka in 1992.

The University has established contacts through exchange of scholars and students with universities in USA, UK, Finland, Japan, Norway, Germany, Spain and many other countries. In the last few years, major changes have been taking place in the University.

The vision of the university is to evolve as a National Centre of Advanced Studies and to cultivate quality human resource. In addition, the mission of the University is to provide excellent academic, physical and moral ambience. To promote quality and excellence in Teaching Learning and Research. The University also contribute towards building a socially sensitive, humane and inclusive society.Β
