Hindustan University, Chennai was established in 1985. In 2009, it was granted the “University Status” by UGC, Government of India under the name Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science. The institution has its campus in the southern eastern suburb of Chennai at a distance of about 25 km from the main city of Chennai. It has been accredited ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. The university envisions “TO MAKE EVERY MAN A SUCCESS AND NO MAN A FAILURE.” Its mission is to provide every individual with a conducive environment suitable to achieve his / her career goals, with a strong emphasis on personality development, and to offer the academically inclined the resources to gain quality education in all spheres of engineering, applied sciences and management, without compromising the quality and code of ethics to each student of the institution.
The university encourages students for co-curricular activities such as NSS, NCC and Youth RED Cross. The technical associations of the institute organize debates, guest lectures, seminars, etc. Whereas the cultural associations form student clubs, inter-collegiate cultural festivals, etc. The university has remarkable state-of-the-art infrastructure for sports and provides professional coaching too. Also, Hindustan University organized India go for gold @London 2012 along with Y’s men International, to encourage Indian players participating in the London Olympics 2012.
In the international arena, it has a Memorandum of Understanding with more than 67 universities across the globe. Some of them being University of Technology, Berlin, Budapest Metropolitan University, Hungary, Bradley University, USA, University of North Florida, USA, etc. The national collaborations include Infosys, IBM, BSNL, D-LINK, etc.
Hindustan University also has a Centre for Research and Consultancy. This primary objective of this centre is to enhance research programmes, facilitate and support multi-disciplinary research proposals and promote Institute-Industry Interaction.

Hindustan University (HITS) Admission Process
Aspirants who want to take admission to Hindustan University must take the following points into consideration:
- For UG courses, Hindustan University was taken into consideration students who’ve passed Higher Secondary Examination with excellent marks. HITS strictly follows the eligibility criteria of UGC norms
- The Admissions for P. G. Programmes are made through entrance test, group discussions, and personal interview.
