Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management

In 1980, a group of intellectuals and industrialists of Andhra Pradesh led by Dr. M. V. V. S. Murthi, former Member of Parliament and philanthropist founded the Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management commonly known as GITAM University. Its mission is to impart futuristic and comprehensive education of global standards with a high sense of discipline and social relevance in a serene and invigorating environment. The university has three campuses in Vishkhapatnam, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. In 2007, it was granted the status of deemed university. Also, it is accredited by NAAC with “A+” Grade. With an aim of enhancing access to quality higher education at affordable cost, GITAM University started the Centre for Distance Learning to offer programmes through distance mode from the year 2009-10 with the recognition of DEC.

The institute offers nine undergraduate, sixteen post graduate programs in a number of engineering disciplines and Ph.D Programmes in all Engineering disciplines. A common entrance test is conducted for admission to various programmes. It also offers scholarships and fellowships to students of the institute. The remarkable faculty at the institute is holding more than sixty research projects, funded by various research agencies like DST, SERB, NABARD and others. Choice Based Credit System is effectively implemented in the institution. The curriculum of the institution is designed by experts from renowned institutions like IIT, IISc and others.

An Entrepreneurship Development Cell and GITAM Student Incubation Centre have been started by the institute. The students of this institute excel in both curricular as well as extracurricular activities like NCC, NSS, Rotaract, etc. Internships, Projects, Surveys, etc., help students avail future employment opportunities. The Directorate of Training and Placements provides the students with a platform to groom their skills. The adequate and well furnished infrastructure meets the requirements of students at the university. More than 20,000 students have graduated from the university.
