About Anna University
Established in 1978, Anna University offers higher education in Engineering, Technology and allied Sciences. The University strives to bridge the gap between academia and industries. The University came into existence by merging the following well known institutions: College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG)(1794), Madras Institute of Technology , Chrompet (MIT)(1949) and three Technological Departments of the University of Madras, Alagappa College of Technology (ACT)(1944) and School of Architecture and Planning (SAP)(1957). The main campus of the University is situated in Chennai and the other campuses are in Chrompet and Taramani.
It has the following departments:
 
Faculty of Architecture and Planning: Areas of interest include Biomimicry, Anthropology of Chettiar dwellings, Comparative study of traditional-vernacular residential architectural of Kerala, India and Bali, Indonesia, IT and its impact on urban built form and built environment-Chennai metropolis: A case study etc. 
 
Faculty of Management Sciences: Areas of interest include Hotel management and General management including Economic Analysis for Service, Financial Management for the Hospitality Industry, Tourism, Travel and Transportation Management, Service Research Methods, Hotel and Catering Management, Human Resource Management, Business Application Software, Applied Operations Research for Management, etc. 
 
Faculty of Information and Communication Engineering: Areas of interest include Cardiac functional analysis Low cost rehabilitation aids, Foetal Electrocardiography and uterine contractile analysis, Biosensors and instrumentation, Rehabilitation Engineering, Bio Impedance technique, Development of Cross-Lingual Information Access System, Developing Tools and Techniques for Lunar Information, Identification and ranking of mineral deposits under high pressure condition using Laser induced breakdown spectroscopy technique, Face Recognition system with video analytics, Development of Algorithms for Enhancement of OCU - For Teleoperation using Augmented Reality, Technical study on active protection system etc. 
 
Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering: Areas of include Power Systems Engineering, High Voltage Engineering, Power Electronics and Drives, Control and Instrumentation, Embedded system technologies, Power Engineering and Management, etc. 
 
Faculty of Mechanical Engineering: Areas of interest include Impact Characterization of Laminated and Sandwich Composites, Augmentation of Facilities in Aerodynamic and Structure lab, Experimental Investigation of the role of Innovative Vertex Generators on High Speed Jet Control, Joint time Frequency Representation of Acoustic Signatures of Electrical MAVs, Burner Design with a Porous Flame Stabilizer and Estimation of Combustion Characteristics, Development of Mathematical Model for Prediction of energy loss in Canister during Missile Launching, Application of UAV for Security and Law enforcement, Thermal Characterization and Analysis of Carbon - Carbon samples for Aerospace Applications, Development of Model Mounting Mechanism for Wind Tunnel(MMA), Impact Characterization of Laminate Composites etc. 
 
Faculty of Civil Engineering: Areas of interest include Faculty of Science and Humanities: Areas of interest include Degradation of toxic wastes, Carbon dioxide Sequestration, Hydrogen production from waste streams, Membrane Process, Solid waste management, Rehabilitation of composites, Soil Structure interaction, Performance of lightly loaded structure on expansive clay, Ground improvement techniques, Environment Geotechnology. 
 
Faculty of Technology: Areas of interest include Curriculum includes Engineering Physics, Engineering Chemistry, Computing Techniques, Engineering Graphics, Probability and Statistics, Environmental Science and Engineering, Enzyme Technology and Biotransformations, Heat Transfer Operations, Analytical Methods and Instrumentation, Genetic Engineering and Genomics, etc. 
 

 

Anna University Admission Process

Candidates satisfying the eligibility conditions as given below as on the last date of online submission are eligible to apply. Candidates whose results are awaited or have not passed the qualifying examination as on the last date of online submission are not eligible to apply and will not be considered.

  1. Tamil Nadu candidates who have passed the qualifying examination in Tamil Nadu are eligible to apply and need not enclose Nativity Certificate. Other Tamil Nadu native candidates who have passed their qualifying examination from schools outside Tamil Nadu can also apply but will need to enclose a copy of Nativity Certificate only in electronic form/ digitally signed e- Certificate.
  2. Candidates should have passed their HSC or an equivalent qualifying examination with the minimum percentage of marks as prescribed by the university. Candidates should take into consideration the subjects as deemed necessary to be included by the University for calculation of such minimum marks. Improvement marks obtained by the candidates including other State candidates will not be considered.

Anna University Application Process

The Application Form can be filled online and a candidate can submit ONLY One Application Form for all the courses/ colleges/ Institutions mentioned above. The photocopies of the following documents are to be submitted along with the online filled Application form and sent to the address as given by the University.
