Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) or Civil Services Preliminary Examination to recruit personnel in the elite Government Services of India such as IAS, IFS, IPS etc. Civil Services Examination and Civil Services Mains Examination is an essential process for recruitment which is followed by an interview. This is a screening test conducted annually by UPSC.

Application process for CSAT 2023 that will be conducted on June 03, 2023 will start from February 2023. Candidates who are interested in making career in government sector should regularly check UPSC website to ensure that they get CSAT 2023 notifications at the right time.

CSAT 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Only the candidates who meet CSAT 2023 eligibility criteria will be allowed to apply for the exam. Application forms of the candidates who don’t qualify on eligibility criteria will be rejected. So it is better to first check requirements of UPSC and apply for CSAT 2023 exam only when you meet them.

Citizenship:

  • Resident of India
  • A subject of Nepal, Sri Lanka or Bhutan

Age limit

  • Candidates between the age of 21 and 30 years can only apply for CSAT 2023 exam.
  • Age relaxation: 3 years for OBC candidates
  • 5 years for SC/ ST candidates

Qualification

Minimum graduate degree from a recognised university/ college is required

CSAT 2023 Application Details

After the release of CSAT 2023 notification, candidates will be allowed to fill the online application form. To register for CSAT 2023 exam, candidates need to visit the official website of UPSC and click on “UPSC Civil Services 2023 Exam Application Form’.

  • The next step after landing on the registration page is to register on the site by providing your login details
  • Fill the application form by providing all the details like age, name, qualification etc.
  • Submit all the required documents including scanned copy of photo and signature
  • Now when you are done with the information filling process, go through it once again and submit CSAT 2023 application form.

Application fees detail

To complete CSAT 2023 application process candidates need to pay an application fee of Rs. 100. Candidates will be allowed to make payment via online mode through debit/ credit card or net banking as well as through offline mode where they will be able to do it via a Challan. Candidates from SC/ ST category, females and PwD candidates are exempted from the payment of the fee.

The main objective of Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) is to assess logical reasoning and thinking the performance of the candidates. Keeping this in the mind, multiple-choice questions (MCQs) from English, one language paper, and General studies are asked.

•   Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World.
•   Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
•   Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
•   General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change (no subject specialisation required)
