Xavier Institute of Social Service ('XISS) is an educational institute in Ranchi, India. It was established as an extension department of St. Xavier's College, Ranchi, in 1955 with the objective of training young men and women in Rural Development, Personnel Management and Industrial Relations.XISS was established with the mission to develop human resources for various sectors such as industries, business, rural development, health care etc. in the Chota Nagpur region.The prime objectives of the Institute is to develop professionals who are down to earth, having deep concern for fellow human beings and sense of responsibility towards society. For this, they are attuned to the deeper aspirations of the common people for justice and see their training as a preparation for true service to society. It's mission is to be a top management school and develop committed, down to earth, sensitive professionals,who work with and for others.

Placement
The campus placement of the students of XISS is co-ordinated by the Central Placement Cell headed by Chief Coordinator. It works in unison with Departmental Placement Cells, constituted of students. The Departmental Placement Cells are guided by senior faculty members from respective departments.

The college has one of the best infrastructures in itself. College has a sprawling campus placed in a picturesque location. The institute also offers a premium environment for learning and also getting the knowledge which caters mind for ultimate success in life. The institute is also optimized to provide a premium education facility to the students for betterment of their future. The Institute has a number of state-of- the-art conference rooms. The classrooms are multimedia aided and are designed to facilitate effective interaction.
Laboratory
Institute has a state of the art Computer Lab and resource center. In the competitive and challenging corporate arena the institute's IT Lab hosts a range of latest software together with the LAN facility with over 90 terminals and the necessary hardware support to synchronize with the IT needs.
Library
The Institute has a well stocked library with treasure of books. It has over 45000 volumes of books. Along with the books there are Journals, Encyclopedias, Almanacs and Magazines. Moreover, XISS library is also equipped with e-library facilities. the library provides CAS (current Awareness Service) through Indexing Services and new Arrival List, both of which are computerized.
