Vinoba Bhave University (VBU), Hazaribag was founded in 1992. The Vinoba Bhave University is situated in Hazaribagh, India and is aided by Government of India. The Binoba Bhave University is known as the premier University of the state Jharkhand.The University was created by an act 3 passed by the state assembly in 1990.The Binoba Bhave University got the membership of the association of Indian universities in 1992 and later in 2001 the association of Indian universities granted permanent membership.

The University also has the membership of the association of commonwealth universities, London. Our top recognizing body UGC has also given recognition and registered it under the section of the UGC Act 1956. According to the clauses of the Act, the UGC gives financial assistance to the Binoba Bhave University for its all around development.The Vinoba Bhave University is full of eminent teaching staffs, and by their endeavor and devotion, the University is able to offer various stream for the students. The University has 22 postgraduate departments. After the fund received from the UGC, the University enhanced the infrastructural facility and research/academic activity.
