St. Thomas' College of Engineering and Technology is affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology and approved by All India Council for Technical Education. Laboratory

St. Thomas' College of Engineering and Technology provides best computer facility to the students. Students have an unlimited Internet access from 9.30 AM to 8 PM. For faster access two 1 MBPS Broadband connection have been provided. All 210 computers in the lab have LAN facility. The multimedia lab is equipped with Handycam, Web camera, Stereophonic headphone etc to provide the students the best technology. A special lab is designed to train the students in NOVELL NETWARE also.

Library

The Library has a rich collection of total 20023 text and reference books with 3130 titles selected carefully for the students. Students can borrow three books from the General Section against their three Library Cards. They may also get two books as selected by them from the Book-Bank, for each semester. In special cases,the authority considers and approves applications from needy and deserving students for more books from the Book-Bank.

Disciplined, organized, good placement record

PLAGIARISED CONTENT In comparison to various other private engineering colleges in Kolkata st.thomas is by far much better, its not the best ! But yes better than many others. It ranks amongst the top 5 private engineering colleges. Lets give you deep scenario about the college life . Professors - I personally consider the best professors available in college is for C.S.E. department(although I did my b.tech in E.C.E :p)but the common thing among all of them is that you can reach out to them anytime for your guidance. Campus & alumni - well the only thing which drove me everyday towards college was the college ground . It's simply impeccable ! You can play cricket, football &volleyball as well . There's a separate court for badminton and a common room where you can play table tennis. The worst thing you can expect here is that you don't have a alumni. Keeping in touch with your seniors is the only way to make your own personal alumni,atleast that's what I do . Placements - studying in a private colleges like St.thomas would mostly fetch you IT jobs from campus recruitment irrespective of your branch . The mass recruiter are CTS and Infosys . The most important thing is that placements totally depend on the current market situation. It might be that today the market situation is very good and you bag a job for yourself but on the other hand if suppose just the next day market crashes and you might end up getting nothing but there is always a room outside campus which you can look forward too. Note- this is the most important thing which every student of St.thomas faced in his/her( mostly boys) 4 years span. You have to wear the college uniform ( which looks like you have been hired as a security guard) everyday and make sure even if you come to collect your report cards or late fee submission you have to be in your uniform. Now this is mostly for boys and it's the worst part about college. All those of you looking forward to grow your beard and look studd in college well I am really sorry to say that you can can't grow beard in your college life and if you are caught having a fully grown beard you might end up landing yourself in the nearest saloon( I have been to it many times :p) or else pay fine and the fine amount depends Totally on their mood. It can vary from 10–50 rs. I hope this helps ! Thanks!

This college is an expert in diminishing your higher aspirations into a pity IT job

The administration of the college is not very student friendly. All they want to do is attract students by their placement records (which happen only in the IT industry not in any software or core industry). The teaching quality is bad here. You won't find any higher opportunities in this college. They don't even give NOCs for attending training outside or for any summer program in other organizations. Students enter this college with high aspirations but at the end of the college their aspirations are made so small that they all they seek for a pity job in an IT company.

Don't Compromise on your dreams , this college is expert in diminishing your higher aspirations into a pity IT job

DUPLICATE The administration is not very student friendly . All they want to attract students by their placement recods { which is basically only in IT industry} , no plavements in any software company or any core industry , teachching quality is just a better than the worst . Do not compromise on your dreams and take admission in better colleges . You won't find any higher opportunity in this college . They don't even give NOCs for attending Training outside or for any summer program in other organizations . Students enter the college with high aspirations but at the end of the college their aspirations are made so small that all they seek for a pity job in IT company . Ofcourse one can develop his own path or career but time management is most difficult part for this to happen . Do not take admission in this college . Work hard for one more year anf try to crack a bettet college so that you won't feel guilty for rest of your life .
