Private University Estd. 1952 NIRF #1 (Medical) 2024School of Petroleum Technology (SPT) started in the year 2007 in Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University. The School caters to the Academics and Industries by Creating budding Petroleum Engineers. SPT offers B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D degrees to the students. The School is Strategically located in the oil and gas capital of India. Interaction and knowledge sharing from the industry, benefits the students a lot. SPT faculties have a rich industrial as well as academic experience. Students and faculties are engaged in practical research and many papers are documented in reputed peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings. To strengthen Industry - Academia relationship SPT organizes expert lectures, conclaves, seminars and workshops and also undertake projects in collaboration with industry. This not only helps in overall development of students as well as faculty members, but also makes the students aware of the industry expectations, which In turn helps in making them not only employable but deployable as well.
SPT with the help of Government of Gujarat has set up a demonstrative research project on Geothermal Energy harnessing in Gujarat. SPT is also selling up a Drilling and stimulation Lab. A dedicated team has been formed for setting up the Lab and funding has been received from Department of Petroleum, Government of Gujarat.
The School tries hard to place its student and facilitates higher studies. This is possible because of good contact SPT has with industry. Students undergoes in four years unique course like Rural Internship, Industrial Orientation and Industrial training. SPT faculty members and undergraduate students from SPT are working on Collaborative projects with companies like GSPC Gas, Shell Hazira LNG etc.
The school has provided modality of bringing in cultural diversity by providing 50% of B.Tech seats to candidates from rest of India, including Gujarat. Many students are studying in B.Tech (Petroleum Engg) from other states and union territories. M.Tech Admissions are offered on All India-Basis through GATE. It is experienced that students with varied cultural and ethnic background live together and promote harmony, integration and share values of living and relationships.

OR Final Examination of the Two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy OR Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India recognized by the Association of Indian University as equivalent to the 10+2 system, Science streams. OR H.S.C. Vocationa Examination OR Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects. OR Three of four-year diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technication Education. Placement
The Training and Placement Cell (T&P Cell)facilitates the process of placements for graduates and post-graduate students at the University, besides collaborating with prominent organizations in setting up of internship and training program of students. The placement policies and other related activities are handled by Training & Placement Cell, assisted by Professor In-charge and students’ Placement Committee. Students Committee is closely co-opted in implementing these policy decisions. The process of coordination with recruiters is handled by the T&P Cell. The companies are encouraged to communicate with Manager-Training & Placement for initial discussions and subsequent communication.
Job offers, dates of interviews, selection of candidates etc. are announced through the Training & Placement Office.
The T&P Cell office is well equipped to support all placement procedures including Pre-Placement Talk, interviews and group discussions.

Wellness Centre
A nutritious diet and a good workout helps students to combat academic stress. PDPU has set up a state of the art wellness centre which offers cardio & weight training equipment and helps students workout under the expert supervision of a certified trainer. The wellness centre can look after the needs of more than 50 students per session and is functional throughout the day.
As part of its wellness initiative, the university also provides an open ground for outdoor games, such as football and cricket and practice courts for basketball, volleyball and badminton.

Laboratory Details
Empirical experiences are prerequisites for scientific and engineering education. The School has created a number of sector relevant engineering laboratories which are well equipped to facilitate the pedagogic and research process. The practical classes are well integrated into the curriculum, but the school encourages even more extensive use of these facilities to nurture a research led environment. The labs are being continuously upgraded with new equipment, to strengthen the research work of the M.Tech and Ph.D students who rely extensively on experiments to validate their work.
Library Details
The Library & Information Centre (LIC) at SOT aims at accumulation & dissemination of knowledge, information, insights and intellectual contribution in all areas of Engineering with an emphasis on Petroleum Engineering and Renewable Energy. LIC is on its way to becoming an outstanding learning resource centre for the students, faculty, and researchers of SPT, SSE, SLS, SOT and SPM communities.
The LIC is made user-friendly by using Information Technology services such as OPAC for checking online availability and online book reservation. It is ensured that the resources are easily accessible to the users, remote access to e-resources and online databases are also made available.
Library Objectives
- To acquire, organize and preserve a collection of information resources as required for supporting teaching and research of students, faculty and alumni and other members of the PDPU community
- To maintain and organize the physical environment to be conducive to the preservation and use of the Library’s resources by staff and users
