The National Institute of Technology, Srinagar is situated in the city of Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir. It is one of the premier Educational Institutes in the Northern Regions of the country. It has been one of the eighteen Regional Engineering Colleges sponsored by the Govt of India during the 2nd Plan. Vision: To establish a unique identity of NIT Srinagar by developed of high-quality technical manpower and technological resources for contributing to the economic and social development of the nation at large and region in particular.

Peaceful and clean surrounding. Easy access to public transport. It is 20 km away from the airport. Hostels are clean and well furnished. 24/7 high speed WiFi facility. Academic facilities are great. Cultural fest is organised every year. Campus crowd is decent. Placements are average. Faculties focus on both practical and theoretical knowledge. They are well educated and trained. Teaching methods are innovative and interesting.

Good faculty and good students

The faculty and the alumni of the department are quite inspirational. The students come from various states and are mostly quite smart. Beautiful, cool and calm place, perfect for studies. The only thing lacking at my time was the infrastructure. But since I left things have changed quite a bit. Lot of infrastructural changes are taking place and this makes me very happy being one of the alumni. Srinagar isn't a place like any other, no malls, theaters or pubs. It's more basic and rural. So you'll get driven to studies sooner or later. It's one of the good colleges in North India and has good reputation with most of the top companies, but it's difficult to get placed in core chemical companies. Lately not many chemical companies have visited the campus, I'm not sure about the current situation though, do check the college placement portal. People mostly go to other states and participate in campus placement drives there. But wherever you go you'll be respected for being from Nit srinagar. I'd suggest to go for this college, it's not the best, but the experience is very exciting and somehow everyone I know from this college has made it big.

The scenic beauty of NIT Srinagar is excellent during the autumn and pre-spring session. The college faculty is neither too good nor too bad. The facilities provided here are good. The food is poor and the placements of NIT Srinagar are below average since 2014. Since the medical facilities of the college are not up to the mark so students need to visit the Hospital outside the campus.

NIT Srinagar is one of the reputed colleges in Asia, formerly known as REC. The faculty is good and the college has a good infrastructure. The labs are well equipped and the classrooms are hi-tech. The college is near the Dal Lake. The college also has a good placement record.
