From the Day one, faculty in particular and all other staff emphasize on a 360 degree growth/development of the student with focus on academics. As a consequence, the interpersonal and career skills (both oral and written) apart from the other required technical skills, are honed resulting in a professionally well grown technocrats, ready to face the challenges thereof are available to recruit and hence NIT-Puducherry stands among one of the best talent pools in the country.

The Mission of the Training and Placement cell is to;

• Provide adequate training to every single student of the batch making them not only eligible for the placement process, but also able to face it with less effort.
• provide an active interface between potential employers and the student in other words establishing an active placement system.
• The training and placement cell strives to develope relations with recruiters in every field ensuring wide choice in the students career opportunities which serves as a guarantee to his/her sanctification  both with the company and  the cell.

NIT Puducherry campus is currently functioning from Thiruvettakudy, Karaikal. Land for the construction of the new campus had already been procured near village Poovam (258 acres) from the government of Puducherry in Karaikal. Construction of the Director Qtrs, Professor Qtrs & Boys Hostel buildings are under progress.
