National Institute of Fashion Technology has emerged as the premier Institute of Design, Management and Technology. NIFT has been granted statutory status under the act of Parliament of India in 2006, empowering the Institute to award degrees and other academic distinctions.

Placement
NIFT has a placement cell, which prepares professionals for the fashion design, technology and management. The placement cell of the college imparts placement to graduate students. NIFT invites national and international firms for the campus recruitment. The recruiting companies were from diverse segments like Designers, Manufacturer exporters, Buying Agencies, Consultants , Retailers, Fashion Brands , E-Retailer, Home Furnishings, Technology Solution Providers along with international Brands.

The Resource centre in Bangalore provides the necessary information to collate and disseminate this critical input. It is equipped with the wide range of collections of books on fashion industry, periodicals, CD ROMs, research reports like graduation projects craft documentation fashion industry market survey reports and latest color and forecast services, sample material collections.
