The Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB) is a joint venture of the Karnataka State Government and the corporate sector (ICICI Bank). It was set up on the recommendation of the Vision Group on Biotechnology, an advisory body to the Chief Minister of Karnataka. Institute aim is to become a globally recognised institution of higher learning in bioinformatics and biotechnology and undertake short-term training programmes especially executive training programmes to upgrade the skills of professionals in related industries.

Placement
IBAB facilitated corporate and academic internships to the students as well as placements in the best organizations. It also provides counseling to the students so as to know what is their preferred field.
