Govt. Polytechnic College was established in 1988, under the World Bank Projects of Govt. of India . The Institute is managed by Govt. of M.P. , In the last 22 years , the Institute has successfully scaled new heights of achievements in the field of technician education and has earned the reputation of being one of the top ranking polytechnic in Madhya Pradesh. The institution will excel in the field of technical education, produce skilled manpower acceptable in national context, meet the aspirations of all industries in the techno-socio-economic development of the state of Madhya Pradesh & country in a decade time, and to make the institution the preferred choice among the students carving their career in technical education.

The college is having a big Campus in the out-skirt area of the city. It is spreads over an area of 25 Acres. The building with elegant look is having well maintained gardens, Labs, Libraries, Audio visual Hall, Canteen, Hostel, well furnished offices, classrooms and above all very well experienced, young, energetic faculties with smartness and hard work culture .The campus is less with latest Instruments and devices for imparting Education of latest technologies. It is having VSAT based communication technology, Multimedia Training rooms, Internetworking facilities.

Library
The Institute has a spacious and well equipped library which is being run according to an open access system. It has rich collection of about 15600 volumes of books, periodicals, reports and reference material. In addition to the books from main library, some more books are issued to students from book bank also. To the students belonging to weaker section(SC/ST) some additional books are given from the Book Bank. Xeroxing facility is available to the users at very nominal rate.
