Private University Estd. 1952 NIRF #1 (Medical) 2024Gemmological Institute of India (GII) is the first non profit research and educational organisation in the field of Gemmology in India. It is a public institution founded by the Gem and Jewellery Exporters Association, Bombay. Institute was established for the promotion propagation and development of the science of gemstones and research studies in India. Gemmological Institute of India (GII), at Opera House, has designed a special Polished Diamond Grading Course for the Diamond Industry.

All the classrooms of the institute are well furnished with all modern facilities.
Laboratory
The Laboratory is also open to the General Public. Gem testing laboratory of the GII extends its services, whenever required, to the Customs department of the Government of India for identifying gemstones in the course of imports and exports. The gem testing facilities are also availed by other departments like income tax, police etc.
