Department of Statistics is one of the leading University departments in India and is committed to advancing knowledge and learning through teaching and research in Statistics. The Department of Statistics was established by bifurcating the erstwhile School of Mathematical Sciences. The Department is actively engaged in research in the fields of Distribution Theory, Reliability Theory, Time Series Analysis, Stochastic processes, Survival Analysis, Demography, Population Studies, Chaos and Nonlinear Time Series. The Department of Statistics is being identified by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India as an advanced centre in Statistics under its ‘Special Assistance Programme (SAP)’ at DRS level. The Department of Statistics is recognized as a ‘Fund for Improvement of S&T Infrastructure (FIST)’ sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.
