The department of Information Technology under School of Technology, Assam University was established in the year 2006 with a mission to produce IT professionals for software industries, research institutes, educational institutions in India and abroad. Emphasis on 'Learning by Doing' and on the value of useful knowledge, is at the heart of the department.

All the labs are well equipped with latest instruments and technologies

One fully equipped computer laboratory with 30 computers that are connected through LAN and one digital electronics laboratory is in function.

A well-equipped Central Library is there with 1000+ books along with National and International Journals. The Department is in its way to setup one departmental library in this year itself.
