The Bangalore Medical College, now renamed Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute established in the year 1955, is located at the city of Bangalore, Karnataka, India. It is one of the leading Colleges in India. The college has around 500 students. The priorities for BMC will remain the provision of excellent opportunities for learning and teaching, world leading student support, cutting edge research in a broad range of academic disciplines. The college offers marvellous facilities like accommodation, transport, and cafeteria sports etc.

MCH Programmes 0 The candidates are selected through a Post Graduate entrance conducted by Rahul Gandhi University of Health Sciences. -
Doctorate of Medicine (MD) 0 The candidates will need to pass a State Entrance Examination that will be conducted by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and 50% of the seat will be filled by All India Entrance Examination. -
Bachelor of Science - Nursing 0 Candidates who have passed their 10+2 level with Biology, Physics and chemistry or its equivalent examination can go for the nursing degree course. -
Master of Science (M.Sc) 0 Candidates must have completed their B.Sc. Degree under any registered/recognized university in respective subject in science stream. -
Paramedical Diploma Programmes 0 These courses are filled through paramedical board through state level counseling of Eligible candidates. SSLC or equivalent qualification for Certificate course and Plus II or equivalent for Diploma courses. -
Paramedical Certificate Programmes 0 These courses are filled through paramedical board through state level counseling of Eligible candidates. SSLC or equivalent qualification for Certificate course and Plus II or equivalent for Diploma courses. -

Fellowship Programs 0 The candidates are selected through thorough interviews. -

Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute

Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute is Karnataka's premier medical college and the opportunities that are provided to students make it so. Affiliated to 4 hospitals, medical students get the chance to visit and examine a multitude of patients which is crucial to understanding and learning medicine and getting a feel as to what practice will be like. BMCRI also has an active alumni association. It provides opportunities to participate in not only academic events both within and outside the college but also in sports and cultural events, bringing a balance between studies and extra curriculars. The infrastructure of the college could use improvement but it is currently under renovation.

College is not up to the expectations

It is said to be one of the best colleges for medical students, among the top 10 in the country, but the facilities are not up to the mark. Washrooms are unclean. Labs are not updated with new microscopes and instruments. No parking facility. Shortage of classrooms. Hostel rooms are not spacious. Library has all the books but finding the exact book is a task. The college management is slow. Some of the management members are corrupted. Most of the faculties are helpful, interactive and supportive. Quality of teaching is average. Patient flow is good which helped the students to tackle the aforementioned poor teaching methods. Seniors are helpful. Some of the students are judgemental. Co-curricular activities are not much encouraged. No placements, students have to compulsorily work in the hospital for one year and then search for the job accordingly. Stipend is provided to them.

Life in BMC

The college is located in the middle of the market place which is always very polluted and noisy. Public transport is easy to get. Traffic is the main problem. The college offers various courses to the students. Half of the computers in the digital library does not work. Sports complex should be built. Canteen serves average food. The college provides equal opportunities for all the students to participate in extracurricular activities. Placements are average. Internships are provided to the students with stipend. College life is happening and fun. Faculties are knowledgeable and educated. Teaching methods are good, but classes are very boring.

BMCRI - Unique in its own ways

Great College. There is a lot of scope for academics as well as co-curricular activities. You only have to blame yourself for not doing you always wanted to do. Premier college of the state located in Bangalore makes one's life as colourful as the city it self.

I was told that it was so mainly because of the number and variety of patients we get to see, which is true. That makes up for what it lacks in teaching and, to some extent infrastructure.
