Bangabasi Evening College, Kolkata is Affiliated to Calcutta University and recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC). The aim of the College was basically two-fold to cater to the growing demand for higher education and to nurture the spirit of nationalism in the minds of young learners under colonial yoke. It marked an indirect protest challenging the narrow educational policy of the Hunter Commission. The college offers Bachelor degree in the feild of Arts, Commerce and Science with Honours and General Subjects.

Infrastructures
The college’s infrastructure is well furnished with all modern facilities.
Classroom
There are two Common Rooms-one for the boys, and the other exclusively for the girls. There are arrangements for various indoor games in the Common Rooms like table tennis, carrom and chess. This facilitates recreational activities.
Laboratory
All labs are equipped with latest equipments.
Library
The library has a collection of more than 19000 books, 11 journals and some C.D's for the use of students, teaching and non teaching staff. The reading room is open for x-students and for the retired members of teaching and non-teaching staff. The classification and cataloging of the books are done according to Dewey Decimal Classification (19th Edition) and Anglo American Cataloging Rules (2nd Edition).
