This is the selection process of IIM Calcutta for admission to PGP-PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) & PGP-PGDCM (Post Graduate Diploma in Computer aided Management):
Candidates from India: Admission Procedure of IIM Calcutta
Selections for the post-graduate programmes are done through a two-stage process:
In the first stage, candidates will have to appear for CAT 2011. The candidates will be short-listed based on CAT 2011 score (CAT 2011 results) and academic performance.
In the second stage, candidates will have take a Written Ability Test (WAT) and appear before a panel for group discussion (GD) and personal interview (PI).
Candidates short-listed for PGDCM will have to appear for a separate Personal Interview, which will also evaluate candidates’ competence and interest in ICT. A candidate (including a reserved category candidate) to be short-listed for GD and PI for admission to both the post-graduate-programmes i.e., PGDM and PGDCM will have to obtain a minimum level CAT percentile scores as spelt out below. However, the actual cut-off used for short-listing, however, may be higher than the minimum cut-off and would depend upon the performance of candidates in CAT2011. Cut-off for short-listing of candidates may be different for different categories (e.g. Open, SC, ST, NC-OBC and DA candidates).
Final selection for both the programmes PGDM and PGDCM is made using multiple criteria, such as performance in CAT 2011, WAT, GD and PI and relevant Work Experience.
Overseas candidates: Admission Procedure of IIM Calcutta
Indians and foreign nationals living, working or studying outside India at least for the period January 1, 2011 - February 15, 2012 are considered as overseas candidates. Candidates residing in neighbouring countries like Nepal from which there are no entry restrictions to India, are not considered as "overseas candidates". Overseas candidates are admitted based on performance in GMAT, academic performance, referees’ recommendations, group discussion and personal interview. The Institute reserves the right to exempt an overseas candidate from personal interview. Overseas applicants can directly download the Application Form from the Institute’s website on or after September 15, 2011. Candidates may be required to visit India for GD & PI in February/March/April 2012. The GMAT score of candidates selected for 2011-2013 batch ranged from 700 to 770.
Candidates will be shortlisted based on CAT score and academic performance provided they achieve the following minimum section-wise and overall CAT 2011 percentile scores:
