The two-year Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) is the flagship programme of IIM Bangalore.

Taking the CAT 2011 & scoring a good percentile is not enough to get admission to this course at IIM Bangalore. Here's the selection procedure of IIM Bangalore in detail:

Selection Procedure at IIM Bangalore for Domestic Candidates:

Domestic candidates are admitted through the regular admission channel that is based on the applications received through the Common Admission Test (CAT 2011) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). Domestic candidates are Indian nationals or foreigners normally resident in India who are in a position to take the CAT, which will be conducted around November every year, at various centers in India.

These candidates are required to take the CAT, and if short-listed attend a writing test and personal interview, and provide three letters of reference from persons who know them closely in terms of their academic/professional performance.

Selection Procedure at IIM Bangalore for International Candidates:

International candidates are admitted through direct applications.

International candidates are Indian nationals or foreigners with valid passport or travel document residing outside the India and not in a position to take the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management at various centers in India.

These candidates are required to take the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) and have an official result reported to the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB). The GMAT code for IIMB is Q9H-KK-49.

The final selection for the PGP at IIM Bangalore is based on: 

  • performance in GMAT
  • scholastic achievement
  • work experience
  • three letters of reference


Admission Requirements for International Candidates:

The minimum admission requirements are:
 

  • A bachelor's degree with a minimum of three years at a university.
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) score (including AWA score)

Last date for appearing GMAT is January 11, 2012

(International Candidates refer to Indians resident outside India and foreign nationals.In order to qualify as an Indian resident abroad, a candidate should have been/expected to be resident outside India for a period of 18 months between 1st January 2009 and 31st December 2011 for acquiring a graduate/ post-graduate degree and/ or working as an executive, and be outside India during the CAT examination. Foreign nationals need to have a valid passport/travel document from a country other than India. Last date for submission is January 31, 2012.)
