Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies is surely a mecca for commerce students like me. A premiere institution for budding entrepreneurs, it has been ranked Asia’s second best undergraduate management college. With such deep veneration showered upon CBS, it would be an understatement to say that it is a haven for management aspirants! 

 

Shreya Telwalia, a 3^rd year BBS student spills the beans on the various aspects of this highly revered institution. “The rapport between the students and teacher is wonderful” She declares. Ask about her favourite lecturer, and she answers, “AT Sir!” Later, it was explained to my perplexed self that this is how CBSites refer to their teachers- by their initials! “Abhishek Tandon is the coolest teacher! Even Shalini Prakash (or SP ma’am) who teaches us Economics - she’s the best in DU!”

Shreya throws light on the drastic change of amalgamating the three management courses and coming up with BMS (Bachelors of Management Studies), “Earlier, CBS was the only college to offer BFIA (Bachelors of Financial and Investment Analysis). But when the three courses, BBS, BFIA and BBE were combined, people feared that Sukhdev would lose its exclusivity. So much so, that they even wrote letters to the dean opposing this change. However, we later found out that even now, management aspirants’ top priority still remains CBS. That shows the reputation that this college has built for itsef!”

The college’s annual fest, Crescendo is also a popular attraction. “Ours is the first college to fetch an international band (AKCENT) for its fest. I don’t think I need to say much more!”

For those of you wanting to know about the type of crowd in this college, brace yourselves, for the quality of students here is exceptional! “The crowd in this college includes one of the most talented pool of students! The best part about Sukhdev is that there is an opportunity provided to every student and in every sphere in which they are interested. The students here are so closely knit that we almost know everyone! We cross people in the hallway and greet everybody we bump into!”

The college’s popular hangouts include Crossriver Mall, SP (Sutta Point) and Mathelas- famous for its honey chilly potatoes! Regular business seminars and conventions, highly experienced faculty, a hundred percent placement record and a plethora of opportunities for students, what more could you ask for? “Being a CBSite, I have learnt a lot.
