Preparation for its technical fest Vidyut 2014 is going on full swing at the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus. University will be conducting its annual fest from January 30- February 1, 2014.
This time Vidyut has taken up ‘Technology for humanity’ as theme of the fest to utilize technology for humanitarian betterment.
The 2014 edition of Vidyut includes 40 events and 12 workshops in engineering, business and biotechnology disciplines.
In addition, pro-shows, a national chess tournament and various entertainment shows are included. Smart Villages, an exhibition contest for schoolchildren, is expected to be a major attraction of Vidyut 2014.
Smart Villages of Vidyut aims at involving schoolchildren in the process of nation building by helping them participate in contests with themes for the development of Indian villages. In the contest, high school and senior secondary students can present their ideas to enhance productivity and self-sustainability of Indian villages by integrating various resources in villages. Teams shortlisted from the applicants based on innovativeness of their ideas would participate in the exhibition. The winners would get cash prizes worth Rs 20,000.
Vidyut 2014 would host exhibitions on technologies, products and services of public sector units and research labs under the Amrita University. Entries are also invited for ‘Fotografia’, an online photography contest.
