UPSC to conduct Geologists’ Examination 2013 from 9th November, 2013

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct a competitive examination from 9th November, 2013 for recruitment to the following posts:

Category I: (Posts in the Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines)

i) Geologist, Group ‘A’ 50

ii) Assistant Geologist Grade-I (Group ‘B’) 25

Category II: (Posts in the Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources)

i) Jr. Hydrogeologists (Scientist B), Group ‘A’ 33

ii) Assistant Hydrogologists, Group ‘B’ 39

Reservations will be made for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and physically disabled categories in respect of vacancies as may be fixed by the Government.

Eligibility

Age Limits:

The candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on the 1st August, 2013 i.e. he must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1981 and not later than 1st August, 1992. For candidates belonging to scheduled castes/scheduled tribes/ other backward classes and certain other categories, the upper age limit is relaxable.

Educational Qualification:

The candidates should hold a master's degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology from a recognised University or equivalent

Candidates who are in the final year of their degree course or have appeared for the final year degree examination can also apply. However, they will be required to submit proof of passing by the specified dates published in Commission's Notice for Examination.

Physical Standards:

Candidates need to be physically fit as per physical standards of Geologists’ Examination, 2013.
