Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is responsible for conducting the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) every year to recruit hardworking and eligible engineers to work under the Government of Indian to supervise large public sector enterprises such as Railways, Telecommunications, Energy, Power etc.

This year, the UPSC ESE exam is scheduled to take place on June 12, 2015 at the following centres; Agartala, Chennai, Lucknow, Ranchi, Ahmedabad, Cuttack, Imphal, Madurai, Sambalpur, Aizawl, Dehradun, Itanagar, Mumbai, Shillong, Aligarh, Delhi, Jaipur, Nagpur, Shimla, Allahabad, Dharwad, Jammu, Panaji (Goa), Srinagar, Bangalore, Dispur, Jorhat, Patna, Thiruvananthapuram, Bareilly, Gangtok, Cochin, Tirupati, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Kohima, Port Blair, Udaipur, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Raipur and Vishakhapatnam.

Exam Pattern:

First and foremost, one Engineering Discipline should be chosen from the following categories; Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.

The written examination will consist of two sections:

Section I - objective types questions

Section 2 – conventional (essay) type questions

Both sections will cover the entire syllabus of the relevant engineering discipline.

Selection Procedure:

The selection procedure is divided into two parts. Part one is the written exam and Part two includes personal interview which will be conducted by the regulatory body i.e. UPSC.

UPSC conducts this entrance examination to fulfil nearly 475 vacancies for Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering posts.
