University of Kashmir Organizing National Seminar – 2015

Department of law will organize national seminar at University of Kashmir on the topic of “Legal Aid to the Marginalized: The Efficacy & New Challenges” on October 31^st, 2015.

The focus of the seminar is to discuss & analyze the legal needs & requirements of the Marginalized and unprotected sections of the society, which include women, children’s, scheduled castes, tribal communities who do not have the knowledge about their indispensable rights also it aims on finding the innovative methods and making some changes in the existing delivery system of law so that they can serve the people in better way.

Objectives of the National Seminar

• Empower the ordinary people to demand improved services and to access their rights and entitlements.
• Projection of innovative ways to enhance legal awareness of marginalized people
• Improve institutional capacities of key service providers are among a wide variety of sub-themes that can bridge the gap between the people and various justice delivery mechanisms in place.

About Department of Law

Department of Law of University of Kashmir was commenced in the year 1973 with scanty resources in terms of the faculty and infrastructure amenities but after few years department has made growth in all areas. Currently department is imparting LLB AND LLM and post graduate diploma programme in law studies. Apart from this department runs a Legal Aid Clinic, which was formally inaugurated by former Chief Justice of India Hon’ble (Mr.) Justice Altemesh Kabir.
