UCEED 2018 Syllabus

UCEED 2022 or Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design is a national-level entrance examination for admission to the Bachelor of Design programme offered at IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati and IIITDM Jabalpur. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay conducts this entrance exam under the guidance of UCEED Admission Committee 2022. The exam for the undergraduate designing course is conducted every year to help the students get admission in the top designing colleges and institutes in India. Candidates from every part of India apply for UCEED to pursue higher education in designing and find the best jobs. UCEED 2022 online application form filling process will start in October 2022. Candidates who fill UCEED 2022 examination form need to start their preparation immediately to score well in the exam, which is possible only when they know about the syllabus. 

UCEED 2022 Syllabus:

UCEED 2022 syllabus covers various topics from different subjects. The main objective behind the exam is to check the knowledge base of the candidates and to find the most deserving students for B.Des. courses at top institutes in India. Though there is no official announcement of UCEED syllabus 2022, candidates can get an idea of the same by going through previous year question papers. The exam will cover the following six topics:

Visualization and Spatial Ability:

Knowledge of practical and everyday mechanical and scientific concepts, pictorial and diagrammatic questions to test, understanding of transformation and/or manipulation of 2D and 3D objects and their spatial relationships.

Analytical and Logical Reasoning:

Ability to weigh opinions, arguments or solutions against appropriate criteria. Ability to look at information, be it quantitative or qualitative in nature, and discern patterns within the information. Ability to use logic and structured thinking to deduce from a short passage, which of a number of statements is the most accurate response to a posed question. Ability to check for hidden bias or hidden assumptions and whether evidence and argument support conclusions. Data Interpretation, brainteasers and patterns.

Observation and Design Sensitivity:

Ability to detect concealed properties in ordinary things, situations, people and events, and thinking critically about them. Ability to discern subtle differences in visual properties and aesthetic outcomes. Applying attention to certain analysis, details, reasoning, classifying, interfering and predicting.

Language and Creativity:

Reading comprehension, knowledge of English grammar such as sentence structure and usage, the use of tenses, verb pattern, articles and active and passive constructions and vocabulary skills. Ability to use and understand Standard English. Ability to think creatively in terms of alternatives, ability to distinguish innovative options and think outside the box.

Environmental and Social Awareness:

History of art, sculptures and literature. Awareness of social and cultural connection with design, history of the designed artefact, and socially responsible and environmentally sustainable design responses. General awareness of environmental factors such as population, water, climate, vegetation, pollution, natural resources, weather etc. and their implication on the design of product, images, environment and infrastructure.

Design Thinking and Problem-Solving:

Ability to understand complexity, identify problems, evaluate options, generate alternatives and select solutions. Ability to use visual analogies, signs, metaphors and symbols.

UCEED 2022 Exam Pattern:

Mode of Examination: Online mode

Number of Questions: The test will have total 80 questions of maximum 300 marks.

Type of Questions: Type of questions in each section will vary from each other.

  • Section A will have 20 questions of Numerical Answer Type (NAT).
  • Section B contains total 20 Multiple Select Questions (MSQ).
  • Section C contains 40 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).

Number of Sections:  3 sections (A, B and C.)

Exam Duration: 3 hours

Marking Scheme: Each correct answer in Section A will carry 4 marks, Section B carries 4 marks for each right answer and for Section C, 3 marks will be given for each correct response.

Negative Marking: There is a negative marking of 1 mark in section C only.
