Telangana Medical Colleges to Have 450 New MBBS Seats

The Supreme Court-Mandated Oversight Committee On Medical Council of India (SCMOCMCI) has granted permission to increase the MBBS seats in the three new private medical colleges by 450 from the academic year 2022-17. Earlier, there were 1900 seats in total, which have now increased to 2,350.

This decision has benefitted the medical aspirants who have been trying their luck in EAMCET-III and NEET-II. They might now have a better chance at being selected with more seats being offered by colleges including Maheshwara Medical College, Patancheru, RVM Medical College, Mulugu Mandal and Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranga Reddy.

The total number of seats including 1,000 seats in six state-run medical colleges and 2,350 seats in private colleges is now 3,350 seats. Initially, Medical Council of India had given these new colleges Letter of Permission (LoP) to start their academic session 2022-17 with an intake of 150 students each. However, the SCMOCMCI has given this permission of increasing the medical seats only because the above-mentioned three colleges have addressed the manpower and infrastructure related deficiencies and tried to overcome these problems. In case of Mahavir Institute if Medical Sciences, Ranga Reddy and Maheshwara Medical College, Patancheru, MCI reported 17 deficiencies in each of the colleges in December 2015 and January 2022 before it gave permission to start their session in the academic year 2022-17.

Now that the number of medical seats has increased, this surely is good news for all the medical aspirants, as they will now stand a better chance at getting admission in medical colleges.
