Symbiosis accepts Errors in SNAP 2011 paper; Cancels Questions. Denies Plagiarism

The Symbiosis International University (SIU) has finally accepted that there were errors in the SNAP 2011 exam that was held on 18th December 2011 across the country. This acceptance followed the decision taken by an external committee (consisting of external experts, academicians and educationalists) that was looking into the SNAP 2011 Controversy.

In the report of the external committee that was published by Symbiosis International University (SIU) on Friday, December 30, 2011, the committee has announced that SNAP 2011 Question numbers 34, 38, 46, 65 and 112 in the Set E  in the SNAP Test 2011 had some errors (the questions of Set ‘E’ are same as that of questions in the sets ‘F’, ‘G’ and ‘H’. with different question numbers).

And so the final decision taken by the external committee : The questions numbered 34, 38, 46, 65 and 112 will be cancelled & the assessment marks will be reduced to 175 instead of 180 marks for SNAP 2011.

Apart from these errors, many test-takers had complained of plagiarism in the SNAP 2011 paper, alleging that questions were picked from MBA coaching websites (Bull’s Eye and Ascent Education). The Symbiosis International University (SIU) has clariefied that "any resemblance or similarity of any question/s as appearing in SNAP Tests 2011 with any other question/s published elsewhere is purely co-incidental and cannot be treated /termed as plagiarism."

The Symbiosis National Aptitude Test or SNAP is the common written test that has to be taken by students wanting to gain admission to all the Post-Graduate Institutes of Symbiosis International University. SNAP, however is just the first step. On clearing it, one has to undergo the selection process of the desired Institute to qualify for the admission to the Post-Graduate programme of that institute.

SNAP 2011 scores & cut-offs are expected to be announced by 12th Jan 2012.
