Syllabus of DipETE exam

The DIPIETE exam paper (IETE diploma exam) is divided in two segments - Section-A & B, with 8 questions in Section-A and 7 questions totalling 15 theory papers. The laboratory exams are again divided into sections A & B with 2 lab exams in each. Each section is divided in two parts viz. Part-I and Part-II. Besides this, a student taking DIPETE has to undergo project work along with a course in Communication Skills & Technical Writing.

Note: The Communication Skills & Technical Writing course is mandatory but does not count towards overall CGPA.

Distribution of subjects

It is mandatory for a student to appear Part I exam Section-A (DIPETE) to appear in Part II exam of Section-A. Even if the student has not cleared the first part, he / she is eligible to appear for the next part of the above. However, a student will not be allowed to complete the curriculum in less than three years unless he has been exempted in some subjects.

Eligibility Criteria for DipETE 2012 Lab Examination

• The student should have appeared for all the subjects in Section-A Part-I and should have passed at least 2 of the subjects in Section-A Part-I.
• The student should have appeared for all the subjects in Section-A Part-II. In addition, the student should have passed at least 2 subjects in Section-A Part-II and the lab Examination in Section-A Part-I.
• The student should have appeared for all the subjects in Section-B Part-I to be eligible for the lab examination in Section-B Part-I. The student should have also passed at least 4 subjects in Section-A, 2 subjects in Section-B Part-I and both lab examinations in Section-A with a GPA of 5 or more. GPA will be inclusive of theory and lab examination.
• The student should have appeared for all the subjects in Section-B to become eligible for lab examination in Section-B Part-II. In addition, the student should have passed atleast 4 subjects in Section-A, 4 subjects of Section-B, both lab examinations in Section-A and the lab examination in Section-B Part-I.

Project Work in DipETE 2012

To become eligible for project work, a student should have cleared 12 subjects including labs of Section-A & B with GPA of 5 or more.
The student should have completed two and half year from the date of enrolment.

Communication Skills & Technical Writing for DipETE 2012

Communication Skills & Technical Writing course is compulsory for all students. However, the course does not contribute to the overall CGPA. The student should secure a minimum of 50% marks individually in theory and oral test at any time before the completion of his/her DIPIETE. The ‘Pass’ or ‘Fail’ grade will reflect accordingly in the Grade Sheet.

• Theory: Carries 70 marks
• Oral Test: This section tests the communication skills which includes an oral presentation on any subject of the choice of students. This test carries 30 marks.
