A number of applicants who failed to key in their correct roll number, name, Class 12 marks and failed to correct their mistakes on given dates will have trouble seeking admission in colleges of their choice.
A number of students have been turning up at the office of the Dean of Students’ Welfare with the plea of being allowed to correct erroneous details on their applications forms.
A large number of these applicants have either entered their roll number wrong or have left the space earmarked for writing roll numbers on the form blank. Some had even failed to mark a course preference on their forms.
The university had sent an e-mail to all such applicants earlier, asking them to report by June 17 and making all the necessary corrections on their forms.
Many students, it seems, either failed to read the email or ignored it, only to be jolted out of their slumber in the last few days before the cut-off marks are announced.
“We are getting a number of queries from applicants who were supposed to come to the university on or before June 17 and get their forms corrected. In fact we entertained requests for such corrections till June 19. Now that the forms have already been sent to the college, there is nothing that the university can do about it,” said a student volunteer, who has been handling a number of queries about the correction process.
The biggest problem will be faced by those applicants who either filled in wrong roll numbers or wrong names, since these two details are of utmost importance.
Those who may have made other minor mistakes can be given a second chance by colleges, the volunteer believed.
