Students from IITs, NITs To Brainstorm at ‘Smart India Hackathon’

The Human Resource Development Ministry is planning to conduct a unique ‘Smart India Hackathon 2022’ in January-February next year to invite brightest minds from IITs, NITs and other premier institutes to brainstorm for 36 odd hours and come up with tech solutions for problems faced by Union ministries. The number of students is expected to reach up to 30 lakh from all technological institutes of the country.  

According to sources, it is one of the largest events in world. It is a non-stop 36 hours digital programming competition where students will work as teams, competing to offer innovative solutions for any given problem statement faced by the country. The aim of this event is extract the creativity and technical expertise of the young minds and come up with innovative tech solutions for the country.

Higher Education Secretary in the HRD Ministry VS Oberoi suggested his counterparts to identify 30 problems to put them in front of the contestants. Until now, 26 ministries have expressed willingness to participate in the event that will be held simultaneously at 33 centres. The HRD ministry has collaborated with All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and i4c for the event. The first prize will include cash reward of one-lakh rupees, on the other hand, many lucrative prizes for the second and third position holders.

An initiative towards a Better India

The Smart India Hackathon 2022 is a path-breaking step taken by the HRD ministry. The ministry is giving an opportunity to bright young minds to apply their technical knowledge that can be used to solve major problems faced by the country. This way, the ministries can tackle the problem with a different and creative outlook and achieve success in making a better India.
