The Abode of Scholars: Shri Ram College of Commerce a.k.a. SRCC.

Red brick walls, wide parking expanse, spic-and-span corridors, sprawling campus. Welcome to SRCC, the sanctum sanctorum of every commerce student.Sonam Sharma, a first year student, gladly declares, “The name’s enough.” Rashmi Vijay, another final year student cherishes her college life, “Studying here under best faculty, aided by technology, was great.”

I am informed that there are over 12 sections, each harbouring more than 50 students. Sounds “school-y”, I whispher to myself. They tell me that it is the first college to be fully air-conditioned and technologically upgraded.

 Another student, Neha Yadav, volunteering at NSS, witnessed a tremendous response for the sports trials. She acquainted us with the most popular hangout spot, Irfan’s shack and heartily solved our queries, dispelling confusion and disentangling us from the intricate web of bewilderment.

They were all praises for their Economics lecturer, Ashwini sir, an amiable and charismatic personality, whom we had the honour to talk to. We juggled him with nearly rapid-fire questions, and it was so heart-warming to see him lending an ear as patient as his responses were to our queries.

An entry into the library was gladly granted. No eulogy would suffice for the reading room and the shelves that harbor a plethora of commerce and economics books. So spacious, so well-stocked, and the first one in Delhi University to have a wi-fi facility. Even a slight glance can inundate you with financial jargons, inter alia, Indian economy, amartya sen, taxation, Harvard Business Review, Journal of Accountancy, Journal of Business. With that, the college has much to boast about.

While departing we had an informal discourse with the watchmen of  40 years. He,  too launched into a panegyric for the college. He handed me over Yamuna, the annual college magazine, a testimony to the social awareness of students and the faculty.

The whole ambience is so full of positivity and amiability.

So, if you eat, drink and live commerce, then SRCC is your haven.
