SHMMD-13: Workshop at Vindhya Institute of Technology and Science, Indore

Vindhya Institute of Technology and Science (VITS) in association with Indian Geotechnical Society, Indore organized a full day National Civil Workshop on September 21, 2013.

Workshop was on Soil, Highway Material Testing and Concrete Mix Design (SHMMD-13) conducted under the aegis of Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS), Indore. More than 200 students from various institutions participated in this workshop.

The chief guest of the function was Dr. S.S. Bhadoria, Director, SGSITS, Indore. He congratulated IGS for organizing such workshops which are very much required to make the students ready as per the current requirements of time.

There were Four Technical sessions and two Lab sessions. Technical sessions were taken by Dr. A.N. Patel, Former head, Civil Engineering Department, SGSITS and Dr. H.K. Mahiyar, Professor and Co-chairmen IGS Indore chapter on Geotechnical Investigations. Dr. Jai Bhagwan, Senior scientist, CRRI, New Delhi has delivered a lecture on Highway Material Testing. Dr. Mrs. Vandana Tare, Professor, Civil Engineering department, SGSITS, Indore and Secretary IGS-Indore chapter delivered an informative session on Concrete Mix Design.

Students also got a chance to perform experiments at labs under the expert supervision of Er. Priya Chauhan, Er. Shashkank Bagrecha, Er. Ravi Dwedi and Er. Akshay Sharma. The Chairmen of Vindhya group of Institutions Er. Sunil Senani was also present along with Executive Director Professor A.J. Siddiqui. The Chairmen of Indian Geotechnical Society, Indore Chapter Dr. H.S. Mehta welcomed all the delegates.
Co-chairmen Dr. H.K. Mahiyar thanked Principal VITS, Indore Dr. Rajendra Tare for the contribution of the college in successful conduction of the program. The inaugural ceremony was hosted by Pranay Sharma and Shakira Saifee and the session were coordinated by Dhruv Jain and Diksha Thakur. The workshop received a very positive feedback by the students.
