Shaastra, the Annual Technical Festival of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, will be reaching out to colleges in Pune this year with its outreach program: Sampark.
The Pune edition of Shaastra Sampark will be held from September 13-15, 2013 in association with ‘Meteor’ a robotics workshop conducted by Smt. Kashibai Navale College of Engineering at the Sinhgad, Vadgaon Campus.
With a series of events offering total prize money of Rs. 6,000 and other incentives, this is an effort to bring the annual celebration of “The Spirit of Engineering “closer to students across the country.
With footfall of around 20,000 students each year, Shaastra is well known for being one of the biggest and best technical fests in Asia and the first in the world to be ISO: 9001 certified. The 15th edition of the fest will be held from January 4-7, 2014.
Samparks are a series of workshops, events, lectures and qualifiers that are held at cities across India in an effort to bring Shaastra closer to everyone. Sampark Pune 2013 witnessed 1500¬ strong participation from colleges across the city providing an interactive platform for some of the brightest minds of the city. This year, with new and improved events, Sampark provides an exciting preview of what lies ahead.
Sampark Pune has the following events lined up:
• Project X: Project X, reputed as one of the largest participated event in Shaastra, is a hands-on event in Sampark which mainly focuses on creativity and craftsmanship. The most efficient, elegant and innovative working models will walk away with cool prizes.
• How Things Work (HTW): A competition testing scientific and technological knowledge about day to day things right from the mechanics of a simple watch to what makes a lizard walk on the wall. An ultimate test to check your understanding of how the world works.
• Manual Robotics: Robotics is an event which provides a platform to showcase skill, innovation, strategy and design that are required to come up with a winning machine. Manual Robotics deals with efficient designs to move faster and to take greater loads in order to perform simple tasks like lifting a block.
