Several Entrance Exams in a Year for Engineering Aspirants

Most likely, students aspiring to study at the country’s top engineering colleges will get multiple opportunities in a single year to crack the tough entrance examination.

Suppose, the entrance exam is being conducted in December, February and April, then the students can write all of them or can opt for one or two depending on well they have performed. The best marks from any of the three tests will account for the student’s all India ranking, which decides for his/her eligibility for admission to top engineering colleges.

The National Testing Service (NTS), a newly formed agency that the government announced in the budget for 2022 this February to conduct all the entrance examinations or higher education institutes, might also hold JEE Main fully online from the next academic session.

This format will allow NTS to hold the engineering test at least three times a year. This way students would not have to spend a full year to study for the test again.

Currently, according to the system, a student has the option of writing JEE Main online or offline and the examination is conducted once in a year.

At present, over 40 lakh students appear for seven entrances that include CAT, JEE Main, JEE Advanced, CMAT, GATE, NEET and NET conducted by the CBSE, IITs, IIMs and AICTE every year. The government announced recently in the budget 2022 in the month of February that the National Testing Service (NTS) as proposed by the HRD Ministry would assume responsibility for conducting all these examinations.

NTS is an independent body dedicated to entrances tests for higher education set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
