The Academic Affairs Committee of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (E) organised a seminar on Corporate Governance and CSR under the New Companies Act, 2013 on April 7, 2015 .The guest speakers for the event were Ms.Alka Kapoor,Director of Institute of Company Secretaries of India and Mr.GP Madaan, Founder & CEO of Corporate Knowledge Foundation.
 
The opening ceremony was marked by a welcome speech by our Principal, Dr.PK Khurana and lighting lamps with the respected guests for the evening.The seminar aimed to familiarize students with the newly introduced provisions of the Companies Act.
 
 
 
 
 
 
A company's Corporate governance and CSR policies embody its perspective on its holistic growth with the society. The same was stressed upon by Ms. Alka Kapoor in her speech. Being a company secretary and having a sound knowledge of the corporate scenario, she spoke about how the recently made changes in the Act would impact corporate firms. The guests discussed the loopholes in the previous system which failed to detect the Satyam scam and how the probability of such instance being repeated is now lowered.
 
 
 

 

Furthermore, the students of B.Com (H) gave a presentation highlighting the main aspects and provisions of the New Companies Act 2013. Towards the end of the seminar, the audience was quizzed on their knowledge of the same. The winners were lauded and awarded cash prizes by the guest speakers.
