A web based examination management system is introduced to reduce the workload of faculty members by Rajasthan Technical University (RTU). This is believed to enable them to store, retrieve, manage and aggregate examination sheets. The university has begun with the process and is expecting to adopt the system from the coming academic session.
With this it will be an end to the traditional process of printing questions papers, transferring it to examination centres, storage of answer sheets and error free evaluation of answer sheets.
Every year the RTU examiners checks 35 lakh answer sheets in all eight semesters of 2.5 lakh students in 134 engineering colleges. After adopting the system things all done manually will be operated in a phased manner and more systematically. The entire system has been designed with tight firewalls to ensure that 35 lakh copies every year are not tampered with or hacked while producing error free copies.
"The online distribution of question papers at examination centers will be accessed at a given point of time," said N S Vyas, vice-chancellor of RTU, in a reputed daily.
The answer sheets will be sent to students' mail box after declaration of results so that they can evaluate their copies leaving no scope for re-evaluation at the university end. Recently, RTU has barred 40 examiners from evaluating answer sheets after glaring mistakes were found in the answer sheets. The new move will prevent such incidents from recurring.
