The beverage giant Coca-Cola and the internationally top-ranked Indian School of Business (ISB) launched a retail academy with an aim to identify and encourage much-needed new leadership in the retail sector. The academy which will be called the ISB Retail Academy will offer a Certificate programme in Strategic Retail Management (CSRM) which will involve 4 days of classrooms a month for 6 months for senior retail professionals. This set-up will allow professionals to carry on with their work, while giving them enough action learning and company-specific projects and online modules. The course fees towards admission and tuition fees, food and accommodation will be around Rs.5 lakh.
An MoU has been signed between Coca Cola & ISB for the same. The dean of ISB Ajit Rangnekar said that since the retail sector in the country was undergoing rapid transformation, well-trained professionals are the need of the hour who can combine global best practices together with the unique characteristics of the Indian consumer. The retail sector is poised for phenomenal growth and is estimated to be worth $637 billion by the year 2015.
