Results and After...

The tryst with the Board exams was, without exaggeration, an ordeal. The datesheet demanded us to behave like ascetics for a whole month, although we could not abstain from talking to friends or listening to music. By the way, it was so munificent and kind of the datesheet to give us “nine-preparatory-days-of-excruciating-suspense” for the economics exam, at a time when all we wanted was to unburden ourselves from the bone-crunching force of the Board exams. 

Presently, I am standing at the threshold of metaphorical door of results with the key: that mind-boggling seven-digit number which I was writing repeatedly in different forms (OMR,words,digits) on answer sheets. I am caught in a vortex. Suddenly, a phantasmagoria begins to envelope the celluloid of my mind: forms, cut-offs, admissions, colleges, which makes me simultaneously ecstatic and perturbed. My result has been almost on expected lines. Anyway, marks cannot deter my love for my subjects. Someone suggests that I treat these results like any other, and I retaliate, “Easier said than done.”

As the climax of 14 years of schooling advanced closer, results acted as the coup de grâce. As luck would have it, results were announced before the premeditated time. In an electronic confrontation with my marks, I found myself fretting over having fallen a little short of my expectations. My proud teachers elevated my dampened spirits. Scoring above 95% is worth jubilation. Years later, I won’t be number-crunching my marks under statistical jargon. It’s always been a limitation of statistics to overlook the qualitative aspect, a Commerce student needs no elucidation on this. As of now, I choose to believe in the belief that my family, friends and teachers have in me!

 I look forward to life ahead. The declaration of marks means my entry into a university, which to me, spells ecstasy!
