Student’s Welfare Committee (SWC) of West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT)

For sometime, it is observed by the University authority that the students admitted in this University (Affiliated Colleges and in-uouse both) are facing hardship during the studentship in the case of the causalities viz. i) Death of Parent /Guardian / Earning Member of the family and ii) Accident faced during their studentship. Accordingly, it was active consideration of the University to explore the possible measures in order to extend the relief to the casualty stricken students. In this perspective, the University constituted the Student’s Welfare Committee in order to derive the measures to mitigate the hardship of students concerned.

Under approval of the competent authority of the University the Student’s Welfare Committee of WBUT has decided to extend relief to the students admitted in this University (Affiliated Colleges and In-House both) in the case of the casualties mentioned above.

In order to extend the relief to the affected students, the following principles had been derived by the University.

Death of Parent /Guardian /
Earning Member
of the family

100% (50% of the
Semester Fee will be
waived by the respective Colleges and remaining
50% will be provided by
the University)* In case of students under extreme poverty and/ or both parents deceased, all the fees
including examination fees and development and any other fees imposed by the respective college may be waived on the basis of a
proposal of the SWC with the permission of the Hon’ble VC.

i) Death Certificate of earning members of the concerned students family.
ii) Grade card of the student (not applicable for students  undergoing 1st. Semester.)
iii)Registration  Certificate of University and Admit Card
iv) Epic Card
v)Income Certificate (to be issued by the BDO/SDO/Equivalent Govt. Authority)
vi) Character Certificate from the Principal / Director of the Institute
where the student is undergoing study,
who will also forward the application alomg with the attachment.

 Accident faced by
the students during
their studentship

 1/3rd. of Total
Expenditure or Rs.
100,000/- whichever is
less. This sort of facility
will be extended one
time only during the
entire tenure of
studentship of any
student.

 The application made under this
category will be examined on case to
case basis. Prima facie following
documents are to be submitted:
i) Papers regarding the vehicle
involved in the accident.
ii) Driving Licence
iii) iii) Epic Card
iv) Copy of the Case Diary / FIR
lodged with the Police Station where
the accident occurred.
v) The papers regarding mediclaim
facility.
vi) Statement regarding any sort of
support extended by different
agencies like Government, respective
college, Local Bodies, NGOs etc for
the accident along with supporting
documents.
vii) Attending Physician’s
Prescriptions and Certificate along
with Medical Bills duly countersigned
by the attending physician.
viii) Family Income Certificate to
be issued by BDO/SDO/ Equivalent Government Authority.
ix) All Documents to besubmitted  forwaded by College
Principal / Director.

 The casualty stricken students may apply to the under noted Office Bearers of the Student’s Welfare Committee(SWC) attaching the documents mentioned above against each casualty prima facie. However, other document, if required , by the Student Welfare Committee, in order to examine the merit of the case , are to be submitted by the concerned students. The decision of the University in terms of relief is final and binding for all concerned.
