Ranchi University to offer graduation course in Microbiology

Ranchi University is all set to launch a graduate course in Microbiology shortly. Ranchi University has announced that now onwards students are no need to go to other state to pursue graduate course in micro biology from next academic year as the academic council of Ranchi University and syndicate has approved launching a bachelor's in science course for microbiology. And this course is going to be start in Ranchi College at Morhabadi.

Registrar of Ranchi University, Amar Chaudhary, said to a reputed daily, "The proposal was passed at the previous syndicate meeting and admission for the course is likely to start in February next year. We are planning to keep 50 seats for the first batch."

The demand for launching the course has increased in past few years as the students opting for this course have a lot of career option in various fields like industries, education, pathology and many more.

Microbiology is a broad science encompassing the study of bacteria, algae, protozoa, fungi, and viruses in terms of their ecology, biochemistry, physiology, genetics, and role in disease processes. Of particular interest is the use of microbes in industrial applications for the production of foods and natural products, such as vitamins, as well as their rapidly expanding role in biotechnology and genetic engineering studies.

Completion of the Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in Microbiology may also allow the student to continue into more specialized and in-depth advanced study leading to the Master of Arts degree in Biology with a concentration in Microbiology.

Ranchi University is a university in Jharkhand. It was established on July 12, 1960 as a teaching-cum-affiliating university, and its first vice chancellor was Vishnudeo Narayan Singh.
