Set up in 2006 by the Govt. of Rajasthan, Rajasthan Technical University (RTU) imparts technical education to its students. The university is situated on Kota-Rawatbhata Road, about 10 Km from Kota Bus Stand and 14 Kms from Kota Railway Station.
Rajasthan Technical University offers degree courses in Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), Master of Technology (M.Tech), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Computer Applications (MCA) and Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT).
The university currently affiliates about 135 Engineering Colleges, 35 MCA Colleges, 142 MBA Colleges, 08 M.Tech Colleges and 03 Hotel Management and Catering Institutes. More than 1 lakh students study in the various institutes affiliated to the University.
However, it seems that RTU is not living up to its promises made to the students at the time of their admission. In the recent past, RTU has displayed irresponsibility, which has become a cause for serious concern for the students:
Delay in announcement of results: RTU takes almost a year to announce the results of first semester engineering exams in Rajasthan.
- Unfair checking: Checking procedure is also not clear. Inspite of the Supreme Court’s judgment, the university is not ready to show the answer copies to its students. A number of cases have been filed against the university but no strict action has been taken yet. Furthermore, there is no supervision of checked copies.
- Copies get misplaced: Hundreds of copies are misplaced ever year due to the carelessness of staff members. Moreover, Prof.R P Yadav, vice chancellor of RTU, said that those students whose copies are lost, will have to reappear in the exam.
- Violation of RTI act: Beside this, the university has violated RTI act a number of times and yet no action has been taken against it!
