An intensive national level conference was organized by Raj Kumar Goel Institute of Technology on May 16, 2013. The topic for the conference was “Collection Development and Management in Libraries and Information Centres in Digital Scenario”.
Collection development has always been a primary function for libraries. That is why Librarians have been trained about collection development principles during their education. Over the last few decades librarians have been facing certain challenges in balancing their collection development due to emergence of new medium. Now, the traditional formats are no more in demands and are inadequate to meet user’s demands. Today, any user requires precise information not that general source in shortest possible time. There is necessity to fill the gap between traditional and newly launched source of information.
The conference provided an opportunity to interact with LIS Professionals, Professionals from IT & Management, policy makers and knowledge seekers, Educationist and Academicians, Researchers, Archive Professionals, Students and distance learners, Publishers/Vendors, Content Managers/Media Experts/Knowledge Managers, Govt.
