Punjab Technical University (PTU) has decided to allow direct admission into the second year of the Masters of Computer Applications (MCA) course from the current academic session.
The PTU registrar, in a message to affiliated colleges, stated that as allowed by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the university had decided to allow colleges to admit students directly into the third semester of the MCA programme through the lateral entry scheme against vacant seats of the 2012 batch.
Eligibility
1. Recognized bachelor degree of minimum three years duration in BCA, B.Sc (Information Technology (IT) or Computer Science) with Mathematics as a course at 10+2 level or at Graduate level.
2. Student should have obtained at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of reserved category candidates) in the qualifying examination.
The registrar said the admissions shall be carried out strictly as per norms laid down by the state government and the university.
