Paragana – The Flagship Annual Business Festival @ School of Business Management, NMIMS

It is that time of the year again when the students get together to organize the Flagship Annual Business Festival, Paragana of the School of Business Management (SBM), Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS). Per tradition, Paragana’15 shall be a striking culmination of student activities, seminar and star performances that aim to drive the young and budding leaders of today to develop and nurture novel and innovative perspectives to ideas that could change the face of the corporate world in the years to come.

Paragana' 15 will span four days, from 29th October, 2015 to 1st November, 2015. The schedule is as below:

Paragana has grown over the years into one of the biggest B-school festivals in the country. The four day fest will kick off with the Pro-Nite, during which Biswa Kalyan Rath and Nikhil D’Souza will be performing for the students at JRM grounds. Last year over 25,000 students turned up to see the performances of the professional singers and comedians and this year with the likes of Biswa and Nikhil performing, the crowd is sure to be even bigger.

Nikhil D’Souza is one of Bollywood’s most sought after playback singer, song writer and guitarist. His songs have been featured in movies like Flimistaan, Queen, and Cocktail. Nikhil’s musical style is guitar based pop and his major influences have been Sting and Jeff Buckley. Nikhil is an alumnus of St Xavier’s College, Mumbai.

Biswa Kalyan is an IIT, Kharagpur alumnus who quit his job as a software professional last year to become a full time comedian. He shot to fame for his pretentious movie reviews on YouTube, one of which is the review for Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) which has more than 1.5 million hits on the YouTube.

Ceaseless interaction between leading industry stalwarts and the academia is what molds the students at NMIMS into thought leaders of today and tomorrow. This belief in the significance of Student-Corporate interaction is the premise for Corporate Seminar at Paragana. True to its name 'Paragana', Sanskrit word for pollination, aims to pollinate young minds with seeds of knowledge and to stimulate an independent and holistic thought process in the minds of budding managers. 

The Theme for Paragana 2015 is ‘Innovision- Redefining Horizons’, a catchphrase for companies today to keep innovating with specific end objectives in sight, in order to remain significant and keep growing in the minds of their customers.

These competitions are high stakes opportunities for students to test their skills, acumen and mettle to take home grand prizes. Students from all across the country come down to campus for the finals to battle it out for each competition.
