On Monday, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) announced a plan to establish their offices in 12 cities across India. The cities include Lucknow, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Patna, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Ranchi, Bhopal and Bengaluru.
Jayant Krishna, COO and ED, NSDC, while addressing a meet in Delhi mentioned that training partners who have high performance will be provided incentives whereas under-performing or non-performing partners will be duly warned and asked to leave. This will be done to improve and drive the quality.
In the meeting, discussions were done emphasising primarily on the quality of programmes under the Skill India initiative, with consistent and powerful monitoring and evaluation, developments in funding guidelines, improved industry connections and more involvement with the state government.
NSDC's MD and CEO, Manish Kumar was also present at the meeting, throwing light on the challenges faced in the ecosystem. He said that the skill development initiatives in India can be strengthened only by constant convergence and collaboration. He also explained how skill development has enhanced human capital and the importance of labour capital.
