The academic council of Rajasthan Technical University (RTU) has come up with a new plan to keep a check on the dropout rate and to increase pass percentage in MBA colleges.
According to the plan, a student can now clear two-year regular Master of Business Administration (MBA) course and three-year Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme within five years and seven years respectively.
The decision to extend the number of years a student may take to clear MBA and MCA courses was taken on Saturday, reports a leading daily.
This will not be a permanent rule and the 'extra years' provision will be dropped once pass percentage rate improves, said RTU vice-chancellor RP Yadav, who also highlighted that around 40 MBA institutes have been shut in the last few years due to poor results of the students.
Yadav also said that the struggling MBA colleges will get a new lease of life through this initiative.
Ever year, the university provides 'mercy' chance to hundreds of students on a case to case basis. The chance is given particularly to girls who miss exams due to marriage and pregnancy.
Now, RTU hopes the decision will facilitate thousands of students because it will apply to all.
